As of today, being my second day in class, I was still getting situated to a new style of learning. Randy Schere came all the way from San Diego to give us an insight on his work at High Tech High. Involving his work, he gave us workshops to deal with design thinking. Our topic was spreading news to media in a way of grabbing attention. Why was it that this topic was so important?

Changing a life style completely can be something difficult to get used to, especially when it is one of two different countries. Moving from San Francisco, California to Lima, Peru has been an interesting switch that I never saw coming in my life. Although I visit Peru every summer to see family, I never really pictured myself living here. Starting at a new school and making new friends and meeting different people has always been a struggle for me because it takes time for me to open up. In between 1st and 2nd grade I switched schools about three different times. However, starting at the Roosevelt school and joining the Innovation Academy has made it better. The people in this school and especially in this course are really kind and welcoming. I joined the innovation academy because it seemed and still seems like a risk willing to take. It provides school in a different manner, involving project based learning. It also gives you the experience of real world projects. For example we write in an online newspaper called The Break. When I come to school on Monday or Thursday I look forward to class, I get motivated and inspired to think freely. |
