Most of my co-workers today were in Tumbes, working to solve problems that were occurring with the people there. So today was more of a quiet day in regards to the area around and in my cubicle.
Concentrating minute after minute on my presentation, I noticed that my plan needed some adjustments. I realized that I was trying to do the whole slide, both the writing and then editing the pictures and putting them up, this was taking to long. From that moment, I changed my whole plan and started to finish only the writing part and layout part of the presentation.

Once I finish making my game plan I began to execute it, by putting the writing information on my slides and then getting my images from a booklet and then sending them to myself in order to then use them. However there was a problem, that problem was that the pictures were not in color and I needed to color them, not in real but on the computer. I opened my Photoshop and began playing around with different uses of utensils to be able to comprehend them fully, to then be able to apply them. Having grasped the concept of coloring I needed to know how to cut out a certain shape from the original picture. Finding the lasso tool, I quickly learned to select a section of an image and use only that, resulting with the image selection and color that I needed for my presentation!
I must say Mission Accomplished!
He stopped in front of me with a funny facial expression that said something like “are you serious?” I responded while laughing, “I am sorry I couldn’t help it is so good!” He bursts in laughter and walks off with a mischievous look on his face saying, “ I am goanna get me some of those chocolate muffins, See you at the office Stefan!” I found this extremely funny because neither him nor I can take each other seriously because he knows me as his daughter’s foolish cousin, while I know him as my cousin’s goofy dad. However, at the office in m cubicle it was time to get serious and put my big boy clothes on. I continued correcting and translating the step by step English section to their near future launching website. I took a break in between to ask my uncle if he needed help with anything, he said he was fine for now. However, he explained to me everything he was doing at the moment and I found it really interesting, which was very surprising to me. As I returned to my seat one of my fellow co-workers asked me if I could do a presentation in Spanish about oil and everything involving it or about it. I responded gladly with a, YESSSS!!!!! I returned to my cubical excited, but nervous. I then kept working on translating and correcting, finishing it that day except for one little part. I couldn’t finish it because I had to examine that part with a co-worker, she sadly was not present that day. Ever since I was a child, I would always be told from many different parents that the real world is harder than school, well I beg to differ. I love the freedom that you get during the workday. This freedom motivates me to do my work, for example I feel motivated to finish correcting a document to then be able to go take a walk and get a snack, now that does not happen at school. Today I got to the office at 8:20, when work started at 9. I quickly went over to Starbucks right next to the office building and got a Frappuccino. I sat there in Starbucks drinking my Frappuccino in a mellow manner, while checking my calendar and planning out my day. Around 8:50, I began my way to my cubicle, saying hi to all my fellow workers, just like in the movies. As I arrived to my cubicle, which I shared with two other people I quickly set my stuff down, took out my laptop, put on my headphones, and began to work with an intense focus. I checked my list on Trello of what I had to do and it said I had to work on translating and correcting information on BPZ’s Step by Step foundation. Now for those of you who don’t know what the Step by Step foundation is, here is an overview of what it will do.
This is just a little overview of how BPZ is an oil company whom is also very socially responsible, believe it or not. They prosper in trying to be able to get the oil, which we as humans need, without trying to harm the community in which they extract the oil from, in this case Tumbes. As I arrived I couldn't help but notice the GIGANTIC building which I was about to enter. I walked in with my laptop by my side and my tie fixed and looking sharp, keeping it cool. I politely asked the nice lady, I bet she could tell I was nervous, that I was present for my internship and if she could please instruct me on where I needed to go. I was on my way! The atmosphere of the company was just how I imagined it, very productive, open to ideas (free) and mellow. The people were so nice and collaborative, they explained the whole company to me in a conversational manner, making it very understandable and engaging than most presentations. Taking a selfie on my first as an INTERN!
