Before explaining you my project I am going to give you an insight of what an IBG is. During school on mondays and thursdays from lunch time until the end of school I have been given the time to work on an interest based group of my choice; therefore, as art is an important passion of mine I chose art. During this time I am given, I hope to accomplish around 5 pieces of artwork that I can later, hopefully by second semester, try to sell or create a gallery of it. My plan is on mondays to work at school on my piece independently. And on thursdays to get feedback, learn new techniques, and be guided by my art teacher/friend, At our first class that we met, I planned the theme for my new project. Ever since I was a little boy, I was obsessed with al kinds of mythologies: Greek, Egyptian, and even Nordic. All these stories of heroes battling monsters and defeating them or even the ones who were cursed by a God, these stories kept me astonished and obsessed.
Therefore, I decided to chose my theme as mythology. Although, that is a pretty broad theme, I am specifying in making 3 art pieces based on a greek myth and 2 art pieces on Egyptian myths. My choice was to start with the greek myths first. On that note, the myth I chose to find a part of the story to illustrate is the myth of Echo and Narcissus. However, the scene of the story that I am going to paint is going to be painted as an impressionist type of art. Leaning on more of a van tough style instead of realism art. Why might I choose this story though? Three reasons…
This past monday I dedicated my time to work on making a visual of how my painting is going to be laid out. Then for this monday I have to begin researching and finding the correct version of the greek myth. The next step is to sometime this week, before thursday, get my art supplies and be ready to start laying out my visual on the canvas.

The Map is NOT the Territory What might this topic mean?
✎ Basically, the topic means that I have to portray and image of what I believe a place might look like before I actually see it in real life. Take a look at what image I portrayed and guess what it might be an image of... In correlation to what I do in the Innovation Academy, it relates to what I do in art. In the sense of planning my projects because It is always important to begin with why. To commence my new art project I began asking myself why I would want to this, my response was: I want become better and more aware of the different perspectives, uses of lights and darks, and the uses of lines in my artwork. My objective was to practice all of this basic techniques into a drawing of a wolf. In order to do that I had to brainstorm on exactly what would I need to know or do to perfect my image.
Sketches below: Conclusion below:
During the construction of an image in art, many things need to be recognized and kept present in your mind. For starters you need to always remember the schematics to a drawing. For ex: The Image below consists of several basic shapes inside the imaged used to help perfectly fit the pieces of this pegasus together. Take a look and comment below, which shapes you might find in the schematics of the drawing?
As easy as it may sound, the practice of stroking a perfect line on a piece of paper can be a challenge. It takes much practice and dedication to perfect it. My teacher showed me this and left it for me to practice as homework. Perfecting the stroke of a line will help me produce the best of my abilities to my artwork.
